W.T. Lewis Elementary: All W.T. Lewis students are invited to participate in their homeroom poetry contest on Friday, January 24th. Each homeroom will choose two students to represent their class on Wednesday, January 29th for the grade level poetry contest. If you would like your student to participate, complete the form sent home today and return it to your student’s homeroom teacher. Contest Rules: Students must recite a patriotic poem. Students will be eliminated from judging if they go over the required number of lines below. Props will not be allowed. Student costumes are allowed but will not affect judging. Students will be judged on the following four criteria: memorization, pronunciation, expression, and confidence/poise. Line Requirements: Kindergarten students will recite a 4 line poem. First grade students will recite a 6-8 line poem. Second grade students will recite an 8-12 line poem. Third grade students will recite a 12-16 line poem. Fourth grade students will recite a 16-20 line poem. Fifth grade students will recite a 20-24 line poem. ** A line should be a maximum of 15 words.**

3 p.m. UPDATE Wednesday, January 8 Good afternoon! After a briefing today with the National Weather Service and Bossier Parish emergency agencies, Bossier Schools will be open Thursday, January 9. However, the YEP program will be canceled and all extracurricular and after-school activities will be postponed until a later time. We will continue to carefully monitor the forecast and provide an update at 4 p.m. Thursday regarding school operations on Friday. Stay tuned for further information and remember, if you do not already have the Bossier Schools district app, this is a great time to download it so you will get updates from the district in real time. W.T. Lewis Elementary: We are getting so excited for our Penguin Patch holiday shop! Your students will be secretly shopping for family & friends during the school day starting Tuesday, December 10th through Friday, December 13th. Students can shop each morning from 7:45-8:10 AM. Parents can shop on the day of our holiday class parties, Monday, December 16th from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Students can purchase items for family members and friends by bringing money in a labeled envelope or zippered bag. All items will come home with your student the day they make a purchase. Gift options will range from 25¢ to $12!
