A new face, yet a familiar one in northwest Louisiana and southern Arkansas, will be making the calls when next season begins for Benton High School Softball. Shelby Leach has been named the new Lady Tigers Head Softball Coach. Leach brings a wealth of experience, having played at the collegiate level at Bossier Parish Community College and Southern Arkansas University before beginning her professional career. Leach was assistant coach at BPCC, followed by a stint as head coach at Loyola College Prep, then became head coach at Minden High School in 2021, where she subsequently led the Tide to play-off wins in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Coach Leach was also voted the All-Area Coach of the Year in 2022. Drawn to the Lady Tigers’ current success, Leach is eager to contribute to the program’s continued achievements. She prioritizes teamwork, discipline and personal development, values that are closely aligned with those at Benton High School. Principal Whitney Clark is proud to call Leach a Tiger, saying “Coach Leach is dedicated to developing players, but also students that will one day leave Benton High and positively impact our community. Tiger Pride!”
